Nerds  They need a PR person in the worst way. So, what should this thing be called? Mexican flu is probably out  How about Pan9 flu? Any other ideas?

An Unpleasant Condition.
What happens with the name change is two fold:
1. It simplifies your web searches if you get all countries to agree to use the H1N1 designation.
Now you do not have to figure out swine flu in 50 different languages if you want to parse all the news on the web.
2. It complicates your web searches in the beginning of the outbreak by splintering your searches - you now have to search for both swine and variations of the word swine and you have to filter out the hits for things related to the 1918 outbreak.
In the weeks to come I think if thy stick with the H1N1 name it will prove a boon for flubies.

I thought this was cute:
"California Schools Superintendent Jack O’Connell said that last week teachers reminded students that if they have to sneeze, to put their mouths into the crook of one of their elbows. “The students started calling that the Dracula Sneeze, and we picked up on that.”
