As part of a cash modernization process, Canada will be moving from cotton-based paper to polymer bills in the next 18 months.

Cool. A year ago we had to order DD#1's long form birth certificate from BC, showing both parents for her passport application. I was surprised when it arrived, and it was that polymer stuff instead of paper. It seems far more durable than paper. This should be good for those who find it necessary to send their cash through the washer in the pocket of their jeans. :lol:

I wonder how heat-resistant they will be? Most polymers melt pretty easily. If they use an aramid fiber, no problem.

When I lived in Ausieland they introduced polymer bills, and that was years ago, wonder how they doing, I think it was a fiver.

At first people found it a little easy to pass 2 notes instead of one but
then quickly learned to carefully separate each note in the wad .
