Next up, McDonalds to sell regular sized cups of tap water for $1. Marketed as a new 'health drink', the fresh from the faucet water will be served at room temperature, with ice $2 extra.

:bob: It is 'for the children!' The fact that it will extract yet more money out of peoples' wallets and transfer it to state coffers is merely coincidental. :bob:

Gotta love this state.

Looks like I'll only be purchasing gasoline in New York while on my way to Erie.

Too bad New York...that drive down has always been a three soda run.

5 cents on the can
x cents on the soda because it is soda
x cents on the sale because it is a sale
x cents because it has carbon dioxide in it
x cents to cover the health insurance

that'll be $2,220 please. . . .

That is how our gas is taxed. We are one of the only states that has a sales tax on the gas tax.

As in not allowing kids to be smoking cigarettes, why not just NOT do it? It is a bad idea. :)

Do you honestly believe you need government to tell you this vis a vis taxation?

It is an odd coincidence that virtually everything done "for the children!" always further enriches and empowers the government, while further impoverishing the taxpayers. :mkay:

Maybe if enough substances get taxed and banned, it will stop seeming like a good idea. In the meantime, why not? If you don't want to pay, don't buy it! Make your own!

Wouldn't it be simpler if we all just picked up a government issued nutrient pack at our place of employment. Then we take public transit to our after hours accommodations where we don protective bubble wrap suits and walk in circles in the silence until our sleep period begins.

Like Prohibition and the war on drugs? Great ideas.
