According to Reuter's reports (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/24/quake-alaska-idUSN1E75M25620110624), there were actually 2 separate earthquakes of approximately the same magnitude in almost the same place.
The article also lists a projected time for any possible tsunami wave to hit the AK coast: "...If a tsunami has been generated, the waves will first reach Adak, Alaska, at 8:12 p.m. Adak, Alaskam time (0412 GMT on Friday)".

I almost didn't start this thread last night because it seems that EQ's are becoming almost a daily or weekly occurrence. But 7.4, the initial estimate, is getting up there. And when I saw where it was - right in the middle of the Aleutian Trench - I thought, "Hmmm, this could turn into something".
Fortunately, it didn't. But I really am coming to believe that there is something weird going on, seismically speaking.

I'm hoping these fairly frequent, fairly large quakes are taking significsnt pressure off plates & major fault lines. Conversely, they could be adding pressure.
