NH Dentist Donates 500 Turkeys To Food Bank
Manchester Dentist Challenges Others To Step Up Their Giving In Time Of Need
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Inspired by a story he saw on WMUR, a local dentist donated 500 turkeys to the New Hampshire Food Bank.
Dr. Adam Salem said he saw Gov. John Lynch make an appeal to help the Food Bank collect enough donations to meet the needs of those less fortunate this year, and he knew he had to help.
"If we can add 500 turkeys to the Food Bank, hopefully we can feed 500 families, especially in this time of need," said Salem.
The governor was on hand Friday to accept the donation on behalf of the NH Food Bank.
Lynch expressed his appreciation to Amoskeag Urgent Dental Care for making a positive impact in the community.
"We know that families are struggling here in Manchester and all over New Hampshire, and as we approach the holiday season, we need to work together to try and bring some joy into their lives," said Lynch.
Salem and his team make a yearly donation to do their part, he said. He added that last year, they were able to help feed 900 families.
This year, Salem is challenging other dental practices to match his donation despite the difficult economic times.
"Professional medical and dental practices are, for the most part, recession proof, so I'd like to dare other dental practices in Manchester to see if they can beat our donation and see if we can all get in the spirit of giving," said Salem.
