Look away now if you are a member of the Green guilt industry ,
you may find these images disturbing. :D

Images of fires deliberately lit to clear agricultural land in Cambodia .
You can view similar images for numerous other under developed countries.

When I see such pictures I become very skeptical of the statistics
that purport to show pollution as a ratio to GDP or population because
I suspect they are based on figures like coal + oil consumption .

Disturbing. But they are trying to feed their children, and we pollute to ride in jets and buy a Blue Ray system.

Yes, but the people in the first world achieve a nice life and then pull the ladder up behind them. I simply don't see how the burners can be stopped, they are trying to survive.

I agree with your math. I don't think it excuses our selfish pollution, though.
