NYC Trip pictures - sorry dial-up people...

Here's a few of the pictures from our week-long trip to NYC. As one guide said - if you had a million dollars and a year, you might see the most of it.
We took a cab in from NJ to Manhattan island - Manhattan itself has about the same population as my home town (~1 million) but we're not packed into a 2x13 mile area.

I had won tickets to the Letterman show. We happened to be at the taping where he got into trouble for his Sarah Palin jokes.
The guests were Howard Stern, Bruce Willis and musical guest Mos Def. Two out of three weren't bad...

Our 0.15 seconds of fame...

It was a fun experience. You're told to be enthuastic and do lots of laughing/clapping as your participation makes the show better. Your hands get tired from the clapping. They have a warm-up comedian, then play a classic clip of Dave working a Taco Bell drive-thru, then have the band introduced and start playing before they jump into the show.
The show is only taped Monday-Thursday so there were two tapings the first day. Our taping went from ~5:00-6:00pm and played that same Monday evening. Basically what you see on the show is what goes on during the taping, except that the band plays through what would be the commercial breaks and Dave also has stage crew come up and talk to him.Posted 06-30-2009 at 08:11 PM by Toner

Picked myself up a watch in Chinatown. Had to follow the guy a few blocks - I suspected it might be a bit shady deal as he didn't want police around.

I actually started getting a bit nervous as he kept calling someone on his cell phone. Eventually we came up to a lady who asked if I wanted mens or ladies watches. I said "mens" and she called a third person using a phone in her hoodie, and then a third guy walked up and slipped her a handful of Rolex watches.

She wanted $55, I offerred $20 and we settled for $30. It seems to keep good time and "Rolex" is actually spelled correctly so I'm happy with it.
