"Mom, where's my fancy shirt we got from the dump?", my 13 year old asked me today. I'm thrilled to have kids who are not snobs!

Friends of our recently saw a child's rocking chair at the dump and snagged it for us. It was burned and wobbly but they saw its potential. The Bitter Optimist

Why does optimism still live in me? Sure, it's a very tainted, bitter optimism but it's definitely still there. Are there truly huggles and rainbows hiding within me? The horror!

Birds of a feather, beasts and other animals

On Lake road by a Lake I saw a cormorant drying its wings on top of a log. I stopped the car and gazed a while, as it posed and turned ,its wings outstretched. Much like a beauty queen with a royal train. Look, look, look at me.

Cormorants may lack the oils many aquatic birds like ducks have to repell water from its feathers.

First Cormorant I have seen inland, I think they fly further towards the shore. The air currants are favorable, and the eagles are flying...
