I don't watch television, so I don't know the hype that may or may not have been pushed via commercials for this movie. Assuming the viewer knows nothing about the movie or the illustrated novel, The Watchmen has a title that bores even myself. Now factor in a film about caped superheros (who have no super powers) who are seen prancing about in spandex, and it is starting to sound like a made for TV movie.

Taken stars Liam Neeson as the father who used to be a combat ninja. Of course no one listens to the ninja and everything goes according to his worse fear - his daughter being kidnapped and sold into slavery.

The action and cinematography reminds me very much of the Jason Borne films. Hand to hand combat, shooting, etc.

Keira Knightley stars as the Duchess. A lengthy movie that shows off a vast wardrobe of 1700's dresses.

Keira plays Georgiana, a young wife newly married to the Duke. The entire plot goes on to show you how Georgiana makes worthless decisions in her life and literally screws herself over with lame statements such as "I want to have an affair", and "I'm pregnant, with my lover's child"

Apparently Diana, Princess of Wales is a blood relative of Georgiana....

I think half of me wanted to watch Valkyrie just to see Tom Cruise and what Scientology has done to him. The verdict? Tom Cruise must be 50 or 60 years old by now. Yet he still could pass for 30. Scientology works! Removing thetans clearly reduces fine wrinkles and signs of aging!

Anyway, Valkyrie is supposedly a historically accurate portrayal of some nazi officers who try to assassinate Hitler and take over the government. They would have done it too, if it weren't for you meddling...

I had thought this was a true story based on Valerie Plame, but after a few minutes you realize Kate Beckinsale looks nothing like Mr Novak.

You can either love it, or hate it. Either way it's a depressing film. On one side, you can root for the writer. A dying medium with dying ideals. The desire for the first amendment to mean something in today's world.
