My combination garden diary, plant list & photo page... because I've got to keep track of it all somewhere.

Catching up the Blog? Forget It!

Posted 06-22-2011 at 01:47 AM by CanadaSue (The Garrulous Gardener)

It's the start of summer & I just seem to have too much going on to keep the blog properly updated. Insteads, I'm photographing like mad - a visual record is better than nothing & I'd rather BE in the garden then write about it.

I was going to do a bit of gentle tweaking ahead of a major fall overhaul in my original border but between lots of spring ran, then much early June sun - it simply exploded on me. It looks more like a long established garden rather than a mere 3 years....

Not a Blog Entry, but a Plant List

Ignore this one - I'm finding I've got plant labels tucked into my computer desk drawers everywhere, as well as in the overstuffed file folder where they're SUPPOSED to be. In the interests of sanity, I need a master list of species & known cultivars & a rough idea of how many of each I have, as well as disposition of extras.

Achillea millefolium 'Paprika'
A. millefolium 'Pastel Shades'

Aconitum fischeri

Aenemone sylvestris...

What a Difference a Week Makes

Posted 05-21-2011 at 07:04 PM by CanadaSue (The Garrulous Gardener)

We've had more rain this week but it's slowly warming up & we had just enough sun to really give things a boost. This weekend is dedicated to mucking about in the garden - rain or shine. We had a glorious day today & in spite of my good intentions, I did more farting around & admiring than any real work.

rb hd warned me at least a year ago not to sow viola seeds with such abandon. She was right. Most of my gardening time today was spent trying to pull out the 34 squillion,...

Obssession Is...

Posted 05-17-2011 at 01:20 AM by CanadaSue (The Garrulous Gardener)

Saturday morning & it's monsooning out. I mean it is HAMMERING down. Granted, it's 50 or so degrees & the weather gurus are promising steady rain all day with temps not moving much. Could one ask for a better day in which to move some plants around? Other than the slight risk of drowning, hell no!

I borrowed SO's rubber hunting suit - a darling camouflage moss pattern & after turning up the pant legs 8 times & pulling the waist up to my arm pits - it sort of fit. Okay...

Because I Like to Share

Posted 05-14-2011 at 06:48 PM by CanadaSue (The Garrulous Gardener)

I like to share photos of favourite plants & those that have done well, the unusual & those that are simply gorgeous. Yeah, I suppose some of it is bragging a bit. I earned bragging rights, I'd like to think. I worked very hard to carve out that border, have & continue to improve the soil & I like to 'collect' cultivars I really admire. Most mysteriously, my gaden, under the conditions I described in my last post, shouldn't work - everything in terms of conditions is 'wrong' - not...
