He may still get even sicker & weaker. As long as he's not having trouble breathing, is coherent & doesn't show any other signs that scare you, should do fine. Just keep a close watch as you're already doing.

Hang in there Oric. Being here has prepared you for what to expect, what to do and what not to do. Good luck.

Even with mild cases watch out for secondaries..having gone through this, make sure they are fully recovered before sending them back to school. This virus has a bad habit of holding on.

I talked to the nurse about my daughter this morning, she's got the fever and headache but no cough yet, and they told me they are recommending to keep her home for 7 days. I can't imagine all parents will do that. And this is without a test to even show if that's what it is. I guess they are just assuming that's what it all is right now.

You were letting him kiss the girls, weren't you? Shoulda stuck with the government advice not to kiss anyone until next May!

Good luck with your kiddo, Oric. I worry more when my kids are sick than when I am.

.....Alan.

24 hr report : they are both coughing .. paracetamol based medicines keep fever down almost to 37C (slightly warm) ... Appetite down and they are less cheerful than normal. If this is Swine Flu, I will consider myself lucky ... There is no way to tell, that is the bad point ...

Keep treating them well, watching them closely, and if any turn for the worse get medical attention.

Take care Oric! Ge the family healthy as soon as possible.

Oric, some children really do get touched that lightly & it never becomes worse. But as you said, it's bad that we can't really tell.

have to leave for work (I hate the traffic in this city so I leave out a bit early). Gave paracetamol to both kids. They are in DW's hands. I hope this passes without serious complications ...

The fever cycles: up, down, up, down. When it's down to something close to normal is when you want to try & get a bit to eat into them, get them cleaned up, then as much as possible - resting ro sleeping to make up for distrubed sleep when the fever is up.

Hang in there.

DW called Our Pediatrist, here is his reply

"My kids are in the same condition, this is another virus, if daytime fever persists bring them in, otherwise rest and fluids"

What does "this is another virus" mean? Why are some people so resistant to admit that they have H1N1?

there is so much "fear hype" that maybe he is trying to supress it. I don't know

I do wish they would stop worrying about people's fear's and concentrate on people's health.
