"Contacts & Friends"
What does this function do?
I'm not much for this sort of thing, dont want to offend anyone, and have tried to disable it in my options but cant find a place to do that. It that possible? Or would I be missing out on something fun?
I dont even like IM's.

Go to your user CP and its at the top of 'networking'.
I was kindly invited by someone to be their friend, but cant seem to respond in any way (besides pm) and the invitation keeps showing up in my 'notifications'.

I have never used this feature on a board. But on MySpace, where we belong to keep up with the kids who are now scattered across a number of states and several time zones, the adding friends feature notifies you whenever the friend makes a new post to their blog / space. I would guess here, that adding a friend would let you know whenever they post, make a blog entry, etc.
Of course, I'm probably wrong.

It's another new feature and it may be a cool function.
Its social networking. I'll have to play with it and then I'll post something in the Foyer about it. I also have no idea if you can shut if off if you want to opt out. That may need a mod to the code.
For now all you have to do is go into your control panel and uncheck the box by the person's name, and the notification box for that person should stop appearing.
Just hope no one else wants to be your friend.

OK, so if I agree to be someone's friend, that just notifies them that I am posting something someplace?
LOL, it's all so confusing.

I can see my contacts with "open contacts popup" from the bottom bar
in my profile.
Earlier they were also listed to the right under (pending?) friends.
Can I also see other people's contacts ?
