Default Drones for Texas border

Good idea to keep illegals out or a slippery slope which will see drones flying over major US cities watching US citizens.

McALLEN — Three Texas congressmen asked the federal government to assign at least one more unmanned aerial vehicle to patrol the Texas-Mexico border by the end of the year.

U.S. House Homeland Security Committee members Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, Michael McCaul, R-Austin, and Blake Farenthold, R-Corpus Christi, sent a letter Monday to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano with the request, Cuellar said.

The unmanned aircraft, known as the Guardian, is valued at about $20 million, but the funds already were approved by the federal government last year, Cuellar’s press secretary Jose Borjon said.

First Miami, then Arizona, now Texas. I might swallow the idea they're being used to secure the border if they were actually securing the border. Another camel trying to sticks its nose under the tent.

This item was in the local paper here in Corpus yesterday. If granted the drones would be based at NAS Corpus. The Mexican officials voiced thier disapproval of the plan siting that flying over Mexican soil would endanger thier sovereignty. To hell with the 12 million and counting violating ours.IMO the problem with spending money on this technology is that it is unlikely to change any of the business as usual grossly ineffective job at controlling the massive influx of illegals.Five illegals were recently "rescued" to quote the leftist Caller Times editor, after setting off their hand held rescue beacons after being lost in the wastelands near Falfurious.Probably US goverment issue.

So, when it gets shot down by illegal traffic, $20 million goes poof!

You've got that right, and the $20 million here and there isn't going to secure the boarders either, but it looks good on paper.
