GM to Close Saturn as Sale to Penske Falls Through

General Motors says it will shut down Saturn unit after talks to sell it fell through.

Penske Automotive Group Inc. says it has ended talks with General Motors Corp. to acquire Saturn, citing concerns of whether GM could continue to supply vehicles.

In a statement Wednesday, the Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based auto retailer says an agreement with another manufacturer to continue producing Saturn vehicles after GM stopped making them did not come to fruition, leading Penske to terminate talks with GM.

In June, GM and Penske agreed to take over the Saturn brand and related dealerships, although GM would produce the vehicle for a limited period of time.

Hell just 2 weeks ago TV ads promoting all of the new Saturn models to include compact sport coupes and ad spokesperson prompting buyers to come on down and take advantage of all the great purchase options and now.......................................poooof.. up and gone like a fart in the wind.

Yea, I'm freakin thrilled.Parts and repair will most likely go sky high. Saturnfans.com says that the Vue parts will be so similar to the Equinox that they will be interchangeable. Another empty dealership sitting on a main corner here in town will just lower our tax base and homevalues, in this once affluent and prideful little hometown*sigh* Saturn had such high hopes as being the car of the future.GM certainly has f'd everything up.I'll never buy another one.
