By 2010, it will be too late. The dream of socialists since before FDR; socialized medicine in America; will be realized. Possibly also cap & trade. The looting by bankers has already been escalated by a full order of magnitude by the new administration, with no signs of abating. By 2010, there will be nothing left but the pain and misery of paying the piper, which they will gladly leave to a new Repub Congress. Things are going along nicely as planned.

Who is "we"??? Republicans? "Conservatives" All of whom cleaned us out and ripped us off and produced our current nightmare which requires trillions just to keep people fed and working at low paying jobs and to avoid the utter collapse of the entire functions oif the economy, our currency?

I loved the deficit chart they flashed by, which showed negative through Bush's regime.

Yeah, "they" are really gonna "save us".

99% of the Tea Partiers have no idea how they are being used by those who wish to keep their stolen and looted spoils.

Clinton and Reich pounded on Congress to get Glass-Steagal repealed, which allow banks to create the SIV market that was instrumental in creating the economic disaster we are facing today.

Clinton, Barney Frank, Joel Waxman and others demanded that Fannie and Freddie underwrite bad mortgages to bad credit risks so that "every American could achieve the American dream of home ownership", buying up the risk from companies writing ridiculous loans.

ACORN engaged in social blackmail through threatening any bank or mortgage institution that refused to write bad mortgages to bad credit risks with picketing and a slander campaign in the media charging them with racism. ACORN did this hand-in-hand with leftist in Congress, who also pressured these institutions to do this.

When Bush pressured the Congress to reform Fannie and Freddie, it was again Barney Frank in the lead of opposing that and crying 'racism!' to prevent any reform from getting through Congress.

After the crash, it was Obama who ratcheted up the looting of America by banksters by a full order of magnitude beyond the previous administration's TARP giveaways, bailouts and sweet-deal buybacks of debt to the government for pennies on the dollar.

But it is always the Repubs, and only the Repubs who are to blame, according to Dave.

So let's ask a simple question....Why is this thread titled "An Open Letter to Democrats"? and not "Democrats AND Republicans"??? Dems are now no more in power than the Republicans were in the main part of Bush's party time when they had the presidency and Congress. Yet Bush and Repubs were blameless and helpless, apparently, according to 06 and Leistb, yet NOW Dems are supposedly All Powerful, according to the ubiquitous threads and videos like this.

Perhaps it is more likely because your positions are simply taken as excuses to trash Democrats, when the Republicans and their regime was certainly at least equally to blame, and Mccain would have been easily as ineffective (too bad Obama really isn't a divine Chosen One - that is about the only Force that can save us from this mess!)

But you know that you are telling a lie here, Dave (and yet again proving the rule). You know full well that I have said time after time that there is enough blame to go around for everyone, Dems and Repubs. I merely cited counterexamples to refute your claiim in this particular post, but nowhere on this thread or anywhere else did I or lb say that our current financial disaster was purely the Dems fault.

Obama has not just been 'ineffective'. He has been incredibly destructive in taking spending an order of magnitude beyond what Bush did. I seriously doubt that McCain would have spent to that level, though it is possible. Personally, I voted for Badnarik. McCain is a neocon, and he has not been and will not be getting any votes from me.
