Great! Last info sheet shows it leaking oil.

Nothing like old, nasty bunker oil to kill off wildlife!

Ship grounding off Central Queensland – 8:30am update
Initial air and sea assessments of a Chinese bulk coal carrier that has run
aground off Central Queensland show some oil patches near the ship.
The 230m-long bulk coal carrier Shen Neng 1 ran aground about 70km east
of Great Keppel Island just after 5pm yesterday. Maritime Safety Queensland
activated a national oil spill response plan after it was informed of the
grounding last night.
Early-morning flights over the carrier show a small number of oil patches
about two nautical miles south-east from the ship. To date there has been no
major loss of oil from the ship.
A light aircraft from Rockhampton is expected to be over the carrier by midmorning
and, given continuing favourable weather, will spray chemical
dispersant on the spilled oil. Further inspections will then assess the
effectiveness of the dispersant.
Maritime Safety Queensland General Manager Patrick Quirk said aerial and
sea inspections of the carrier had begun at first light.
The carrier is aground on a shoal and is not expected to be moved without
salvage assistance. A salvage assessment is expected to be made today

The ship has been towed off the reef last night at high tide after half its load was unloaded onto other ships. There appears to be no major spill.

Since the Great Barrier Reef is a big tourist draw, this is about what you would expect from AuBC.

China wants "fair treatment" for the ship's crew. *cough* Rio Tinto *cough*
