I had to take my Dude to the vet last week, he hurt his leg running. A dog barked and he swung around and let out a hell of a yelp. He hobbled home on three legs and favored his leg for days...He is over weight. He gets a lot of exercise but is an absolute food hound. It's the black lab in him...the other part is border collie which gives him the smarts to score the food he craves.

Anyway, vet suggested some diet pills for him. Apparently they are very safe. I'm worried about his weight so we figure we will give them a try when we get back from vacation. They cause him to loose some interest in food. I don't like giving him this sort of thing but I can see serious health problems down the road for him if we don't.

Wait what:

Does he feed himself? Catch animals himself?

How come they have diet pills for animals that work, but not for humans.

They have a diet pill for humans that works great. It is called methamphetamine.

As for fat cats, my sifu feeds his formerly fat cat using a measuring cup. Problem solved. The cat lost weight, his health improved, and he is doing great.

That what I was hinting at.

I have/have had very food driven Rottweilers. One was so food driven she was coprophagic.

Lock up the bag of food, use a measuring cup, met out the same amount every day two times a day and the dog will lose weight. (Twice a day reduces the chance of intestinal problems including bloat (death) and makes them less hungry during the day.)

Use a high quality nutritious food (no Ol' Roy) and go light on the biscuits. One of them even like baby carrots which made it a lot easier. Cheap and little to no calories.

Stay away from things like those meat like snacks. (Snausages, etc.)

When the weight hits optimum stay there. I see no reason why this wouldn't work for dogs.

Some dogs and cats can self feed. Great! It makes it a lot easier. (Of course I knew a cat who went out and caught lizards several times a day. She was always heavy.)

Some you can't and if you want them to be healthy and live long you are going to have to portion it out yourself.

I wish it was that easy for me to lose weight.

Got your hint, which is why I related that example. And yes, I need somebody feeding me with a measuring cup as well.

My 2 dogs are spirited enough without meth, and when meth diet pills were still available i didn't need a diet, the last 5 years brought on the Lbs.
