Piss me off - I was hoping it would be a standard late, west coast time game. No - starting at 1700 Pacific time - which makes sense if they want to max out viewers & advertising, etc. But I'm stuck working a bingo. I hope the caller working tonight is the one who has a little TV discretely tucked away by his right elbow...LOL He's good at giving out the scores between calling balls.

I can never afford the time to just sit and solely watch a game. Hopefully I can find a chore tonight that will enable me to take a peek occasionally or be within ear shot.

I'll be happy either way - Boston was my first favorite team as a kid thanks to Bobby Orr but it would be nice to have the cup come home even though it's Vancouver.

Calgary wouldn't have had a hope in h3ll of getting my support though...

In other news, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has announced this evening that he will immediately convene an emergency session of Parliament in order to pass back to work legislation for Roberto Luongo.

Would expect nothing less of Vancouverites. The only city I've ever been happy to move from.

Damn - just got back from work & turned off the TV - I'm damned pissed off.

Vancouver fans - as much as I would have LOVED to see the Canucks bring the Cup home - the Bruins EARNED it tonight. The little I saw at work - the team played well & Thomnas was exceptional.

To be seeing what I'm witnessing on TV right now, in various downtown areas disgusts me. Property destroyed, people hurt... over a bloody HOCKEY GAME?

Put the booze down & bloody well grow up - you're not worthy of being called fans - those of you participating in this travesty.

Remember Ari's rants about people she came into contact with? Especially using buses and the Skytrain? They're downtown right now, tearing the city up, and burning it down. Anyone who has ever bought an NHL jerseys kniws those people wearing them, who are currently looting London Drugs of electronics, and the Hudson Bay Co., don't need to steal to survive.

I'm seeing reports that they've called in the RCMP and are using tear gas. The mayor has also promised that they'll be reviewing video to make further arrests.

And just now from CTV: "Vancouver PD says it will escalate tactics with gas and flashbangs, hundreds more officers moving in - CTV"

I've got CBC newsworld on live & this story is about all they're covering. I really hate the fact it's giving vancouver such a black eye. Most residents there wouldn't dream of carryon in such an idiotic manner. The team is beginning to react - the team captain is horrified. Yes - riot police, RCMP... I've been seeing tear gas deployed. The ER at St. Paul's hospital has been closed to further cases - they're full with those injured from these disgusting riots. Concussion grenades being used on those smashing windows for 'loot & grab'. At least three vehicles have been burned.

Bloody RIOT TOURISTS have shown up & are posing in front of the fires - police are giving them short shrift.

In all fairness, many there have been pleading with the rioters to stop & go home.

It's the studied judgement of law enforcement they've got a long several hours ahead of them with this stupidity continuing. Here are a coupkle of videos from CBC:

Live tweets at The Province (newspaper). Earlier reports from CTV news...all bus traffic, in and out of downtown, cancelled. Bridges closed. Skytrain backed up beyond belief. How the hell they'll get those people to leave is beyond me.

Sue, flash bangs and tear gas have been used for a few hours now, from what I've seen. We now have three PDs involved...Van, RCMP, and Surrey PD was on their way a while ago. They don't have any others to really call on, unless they go as far out as Abbotsford, in the valley. Most towns out there are policed by the RCMP.

Freakin' idiots.

I'll admit I'm way behind the curve. The bingo hall manager turned off the TV after the game ended, then we got busy with final games, clean up & closing.

I'm sure there will be tons of analyses tomorrow - right now, I'm just stunned at the stupidity. And now, they're trying to pin down the injury situation. 100+ treated for tear gas so far & apparently, ambulances are lined up all across the ER entrance at St. Paul's.

Lovely - at least 2 people stabbed - rumours of more.

Code Orange at St. Paul's.

I'd say some people need some serious bitch slapping.

Everyone likes to put down Detroit but this didn't happen when the Wings won and it didn't happen when the Wings lost.
