Ehrlichiosis is a nasty customer. Old Hawk nearly died from it a few years ago.

I've lived with wood ticks here in Minnesota for 50+ years. It was very rare to hear of any complications from their bite. But these deer ticks that have migrated in within the last 4-5 years are bad news. I personally know 5 people that have been severely debilitated by Lyme disease, including the wife of a doctor that is now wheel chair bound because of it.

My Dad was treated for anaplasmosis last year and it showed up in three of our five dogs when they got their heart worm tests this spring.

Damn ticks.
