Arrow Portable shelter system

This is an interesting shelter system for disaster response agencies. Very cool technology.

Pricy too I bet. Interesting concept though.

It looks like a million dollar plus, per unit solution. Who is going to pay for any mass deployment of these..,

Nothing about cost in the video. Can FEMA afford them? Will the BUDGET be able to support this as a solution?

You are pulling numbers out of your butt. They are obviously not cheap, but your estimate is a bit ridiculous.

Personal opinion.., Based on nothing more than my intuition. So sue me.

# I do not see why it would be expensive . It should be possible
to easily make them for less than $50K ( and I do know what such
items cost ) .

# Generator and air conditioning only .
No cooking , no washing , no beds , no storage , no furniture .

# Absurd to compare it with an RV given the almost complete
absence of facilities .

# Apparently almost nil natural lighting .

# Very well insulated ( if foam walls ) .

# No corner jacks underfloor at outer corners may allow noticeable
rocking when walking on the outer edges of the floor .

# Apparently little or no ability to store useful needed items inside
during transportation because the walls and roof take up so much space .

# The foam may give off nasty fumes in extremely hot weather .

So far as price, my guess was around $100k$. You have to keep in mind that it comes with an A/C, air compressor and 20 kw diesel generator unit, as well as the mechanicals to deploy the wall panels into place, so it will not be dirt cheap. But as you pointed out, it is an empty shell, so it will cost nowhere near as much as a luxury RV.

So far as features, interior lighting, A/C power outlets and a power leveling system are built in. The materials used are formaldehyde-free, so it should not stink too badly inside. They use Dibond, a polyethylene core sandwiched between two outer layers of aluminum. The whole thing, including the generator/air conditioning unit, weighs a little over six tons.

You can download a technical data sheet and sales brochure .pdfs at the company's website.

This thing is not a shelter to house refugees. It is for use as a command post, planning and dispatch center, or that sort of thing.
