I have a sick chicken
One of my chickens is sick. My first guess is she might be egg bound. She is sitting on the egg box and appears to be trying to lay an egg, and she doesn't look good at all. So now, I got to do some research to figure out how to fix her or euthanize her.

Olive oil on finger. Finger in. Other hand, squeeze egg out. If egg does not come out, break it (use a pencil or screwdriver - just tap into the egg that you can see) and scoop out the pieces of shell.
Or, have roast chicken tonight.

Thanks FB.
False alarm. I just went out there, and she was dusting in the dust box, now doing normal chicken stuff (peck, peck, peck). The egg came out, although it has a somewhat rough texture. Maybe she was just having a hard time getting it out, or I could have simply overreacted due to lack of sleep. But I know my chickens pretty well, and she seemed to be in distress. I have never seen one act like that when laying an egg. Rough texture for an egg, I am not sure what would cause that...She is the only chicken that has a name "jack-ass".

You are lucky! Usually sick chicken = dead chicken. I had one who seemed to be eggbound but nothing came of it... couldn't fix it... she walked funny for a month and then suddenly died... RIP, PrissyChicken.
