Unhappy Ex-Canucks star Pavol Demitra among Russian crash dead

Think the team had chartered the jet - they were on their way to play their season opener:

It is a very sad day. There are 2 survivors 1 crew member and 1 player. TSN is reporting that the surviving player has burns over more than 90% of his body including his respiratory tract and internal organs. I wish the doctors treating this young man would just let him go.

90% including his respiratory tract? Let the poor man go in peace - he's not going to make it anyway.

That's what was reported on TSN this afternoon. Alexander Galimov's condition was listed as "beyond critical" this afternoon and both he and the member of the flight crew that survived are now listed as "very grave". TSN radio did an amazing job of reporting this afternoon. The family of Brad McCrimmon lives in the Detroit metro area. They were away and in seclusion immediately. I'm not sure if this was done with the help of the NHL or DRW family.

What awful pictures. Plane crashes sure are making the news here. One of those players (Basicek?) played for the Greyhounds here. And we lost a local guy to the one up north last month. Hope the crashes are over for a while. Just horrific for the families.

I'm looking for backing for an unauthorized auto-biography that I am writing. Hopefully, this will sell in such huge numbers that I will be able to sue myself for an extraordinary amount of money and finance the film version in which I will play everybody. - David Bowie

Brad McCrimmon was player for the Flyers when I was growing up. Crappy way to go.

RIP Fellas.

Alexander Galimov is still alive and is in a medically induced coma. He was able to speak briefly with his father after being transferred to Moscow.

Alexander Galimov's over all condition remains unchanged. According to pieces that I've been able to get from translations he has undergone some type of trachea procedure. Online translators from both Russian and German sources are calling it a replacement. He is also hooked to an "artificial kidney" which I assume is a dialysis machine. I can find nothing on the condition of the surviving crew member.

Default He didn't make it

Galimov, the only player to survive the crash has died of his injuries.

The member of the flight crew is improving - moved out of ICU into a general ward:
