Repub candidate wins congressional seat in NYC district

For a Repub to win in a solid Dem New York City district is unheard-of. The Dems brought out the big gun party celebs and spent huge amounts of money, and still lost. This does not bode well for Obama. The district is one-third Jewish, and there has been talk that the Dems have lost the Jewish vote over the economic issues. This seems to bear that out.

(BTW, this was the same day Obama's new poll numbers came out.)
Contrary to what the Democratic leaders are saying it looks like the voters are sending a message.

This just means the Dems will be all the more desperate, and the election will be that much nastier. They have been very overconfident until now. They knew that people were dissatisfied with the performance, but thought they could count on their base to remain loyal. Now they are being disabused of that notion, and are starting to panic.

Apparently, the Repub win in this NYC district totally hoses up the Dem's redistricting plan. Now Dems who assumed they would be redistricted into totally safe districts may instead be in contested districts, possibly leading to even more Repub wins. The New York State Democratic Party must be pissing hemoglobin right about now.

I think it is going to look a lot like the Wisconsin fight over the collective bargaining bill.

Sounds good to me.
We should hold all politicians in contempt and riducule them when we can. We should hold a person suspect why they would want to be a career poitician.
