Sadly, two of the injured have died for a toll now, of 8 dead & 1 remaining in critical condition.

A hair salon of all places - not a location that springs to my mind when thinking of mass shootings. I'll be very curious to see what the motive was. Also like to know if it was staff who may have been the primary targets or if target selection was more randomized.

Local media reports said the gunmen, who was arrested about a kilometre from the salon, was ex-military and was wearing body armour at the time of the shooting.

Several reports that I've read said that he was targeting his ex-wife who was in the salon due to a nasty custody fight.

The local news has the shooter as the spouse of an employee. He did not attempt to shoot it out with the cops, so it is a safe bet that he only wore the armor to ensure he could carry out the crime, (surviving perhaps a chance encounter with a cop or armed patron) and not to necessarily to survive a heavily armed confrontation with cops or a SWAT Team. Also, being ex-military has shit all to do with gunning down trapped sheep with no cover and no hope of fighting back. Guy could have been a frickin file clerk on a tugboat or fuel sampling technician, not a combat arms troop and had little weapons experience outside familiarization firing in basic training in his teens. You dont need skills to shoot cowering victims.

Most likely scenario, he had a beef with his wife and all her "bitch friends" who kept telling her he was no good or he got tired of hearing how Susie's husband took her to dinner and Bonnies boyfriend flew her to Vegas last weekend everytime the wife came home from work. This was a dick who hated life and wanted other people to suffer. He also knew that he was unlikely to encounter much resistance in a Salon. Take his ass out back, shoot him behind the ear and piss in his dead skull. And then punch every politician in Cali that does not believe people should have the means to defend themselves from the wolves.

One more thing. If you have never heard a gunshot, or several gunshots, and even if you never plan on owning a gun in your life or ever being around one, take your ass down to the local OUTDOOR shooting range and just stand in the parking lot for 5 minutes. Gunshots do not sound like fireworks, they sound like fucking gunshots. After that little lesson, should you ever hear them again, find a fucking hole to crawl in until the shit stops.
