Good site for buying yarn
I bought some yarn from Webs - www.yarn.com
Excellent prices/selection. I'm not near a proper yarn store so I generally buy the "good" stuff online. (Cotton and acrylic I go to Jo-anns or Michaels...)

I'm currently knitting a ribbed scarf for myself. I have a shawl OTN but I'm debating about frogging it - it's complicated - having an 8 1/2 month and complex patterns is too much for me, now. I need mindless/repetitive etc.
I knitted Roger a pumpkin hat recently, too.

I'm knitting the scarf in Cascade 220. I got many, many skeins of it for ridiculously cheap from a private seller. It's a nice blue colour...
eta: I also like www.knitpicks.com. I bought a ball winder and a swift through their website, as well as numerous notions and an interchangeable needle set.

I have the Harmony's from Knitpicks. I always used straights but like to knit in the car and while waiting for the school bus and circulars are a lot more portable. Webs is a great source for yarn, I just like to feel it before I buy. Not many yarn stores in FL, but I am surprised you have a problem in Colorado.
I'm knitting this at the moment: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/haruni I'm using my merino/silk handspun.
Just finished this: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...lden-shawlette using sock yarn, and one pair of socks and two hats last month.

I love circular needles, too. I have Addiclicks (gift!) and the nickel-plated KP interchangeables. (bough the KP ones before I got the Addiclicks.)
You can buy people's stash on Rav, Flourbug. it's cheap and easy!

Ari, I belong to several Rav groups, and I am on a few Yahoo lists too. I usually buy fleece or roving and spin my own, but impulse shopping at my YLS is fun too.

I have that Haruni pattern. I don`t know if I have the skills and patience to do it tho.
Right now,I`m doing simple mittens, hats and scarfs for Christmas presents, with a couple pairs of socks in the mix.
Found a great site for old patterns.

CactusAZ, it really isn't that complicated. Each leaf is 10 stitches and four knit pattern rows with purl on the wrong side. I haven't gotten to that fancy edging yet - just finished the leaves and I think I am going to add 16 more rows because it looks small. This is only my fourth lace project so I am definitely no expert at it.

I was given 2 skeins of pink wool & a crochet hook, size 4.5 in order to teach myself. I haven't touched them yet.
Why do I have a feeling I'll be very, very sorry if I do? LOL

Oh yes, it is very addictive. First you want yarn and all the tools, then you need to learn how to spin your own... Then you want to process the fiber and dye it purity colors....

There ya go... another addiction in the making.
You can get into spinning very inexpensively. You can start with roving or raw fleece or even cotton, use natural dyes ( http://www.pioneerthinking.com/craft...turaldyes.html ) or kool aid to dye it, use dog slicker combs to process it nice and smooth for spinning, and then a homemade or inexpensive spindle to twist it up. That's how I started. After that, the sky is the limit, lol.
