Wow, interesting! I'd want to do a bit of research before I signed up, but I'm intrigued by the process! The fact that it's tied in so closely with Facebook concerns me, but that's my own personal problem!

If you read the article more closely, you will see that Dwolla is not 'tied with' Facebook in any way. The inventor merely finds Facebook to be one easy method to connect with other Dwolla users.

No real explanation of how it works .
No critical comment of any kind by the journalist ( or publicist ) .
I remain skeptical and suspicious until I have good reason not to be .

This bitcoin system is based on the P2P "bittorrent" style system - there is no central holder or distributor of a bitcoin. All of the other "crypto-currencies" have gone out of business - Flooz, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flooz.com, Beenz http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beenz.com, and InternetCash http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InternetCash.com
There's no company that can go out of business and leave you holding your "flooz".

Gotta look at the bigger picture. This bitcoin currency isn't even a year old, and it's sure to be very volatile. I'm just saying that i think that as an alternate currency, i think bitcoin has the best solution. You dont need to trust that a managed company holding all your flooz/beenz/whatever won't go belly up.

There is zero volatility in money transfer systems like Dwolla. Bitcoin is vulnerable to a crash in value at any moment. Last time it crashed because hackers were able to get in and steal peoples' money. Bitcoin is unsafe and unsound. That is 'the bigger picture'.
