Based on the past yes. Birth control could be seen as abberant behavior. So could living together without marriage. Or having a baby or three without marriage.

She just might be the front runner of the new generation. (Yeah, kinda scary, I agree but hey, I'm old...I remember a time before the pill!)

Dang. Guess I went to high school and college a few decades too early. You do realize that a 14-year old girl is almost certainly not having safe sex, right? And, even if they are using condoms during sex she can still get some pretty nasty things.

She will tune out words, or I would expect her to. Same as I tuned out words about no male wanting me if I was not a virgin that my grandmother believed in and may have been true in her day....was not true in mine.

So pics of diseases....then pics with a few words on reproduction and birth control.

Any other ideas?

100 in a month or 3+ per day... she's had little time to do much else for a month. She's bloody well gonna need almost a 'deprogramming' at this point & depending on her specific experiences, it may be too late for her.

Disease with pics is good, but still unimaginable on a personal level to most teenagers. They are in that invincible stage where it won't happen to them. Even so, some might actually get it, so it is worth a shot.
Ditto with getting pregnant. Won't happen to me. and there are too many of them that seem to think it is a cool outcome. They get someone to love who automatically loves them but they don't realize the hard parts, only that the deficiency in love they feel will be met by a baby.

Morality---that's where the deficit lies. No internal principles about how to behave sexually. I "feel" it is wrong but I have a hard time explaining why because there are many reasons that are only relevant to me and perhaps others in my generation. I could give a teenager lots of "good" reasons but I am not sure exactly what my "real" reasons are. They might not be the same.

There may be no restrictions that make sense to them.....it's not illegal, immoral doesn't mean anything, disease is impossible for "me".....so is there anything that will work?

Will: " Sex should be for someone you are in love with" have any impact? That's not what their friends are doing..

I think that a reason that is focused on their particular belief system combined with: this will make ME happy, has the best chance of being effective.

But that requires that someone really know and understand the individual and what their dreams and goals are and tie "don't screw just anybody, much less everybody" to those, somehow. If they are a dreamy, fairy-tale love kind of person then you focus on what is attractive to the Prince/princess they most desire? Is a long history of screwing everybody going to interest him/her?

But you have to be careful here, because depending on who they idolize at the moment, it might just be exactly what he/she likes.

If she/he is career oriented it is easy....pregnancy interrupts your goals.

But what is an approach that teachers and counselors and parents can use knowing only that they are dealing with a teenager and their age and hormone based mindset?

And is there one?

I don't think Croatia has found any general approach that works, given this girl's behavior.

A former neighbor had 2 kids in 3 years, she also had an idea to bring home the reality of teen births. She wanted to start a program where young parents brought in babies that were not the easiest to take care of so the teens could see what could happen. She had her first at 17 and was way under prepared for it. That first baby has all sorts of stomach problems and was colicy and screamed most of the day. She figured if the other teens had to see what could happen maybe they would think twice before having unprotected sex. The school board said no.

You could do a sexual mores through history kinda thing. Sex does tend to catch teens interest....even history of sex does. (Or did for my students). But I read somewhere that after WWII Russia/USSR, was low on males, so that is where the child care centers and a change in being preg without marriage came into acceptance....simply to encourage babies.

Once reality of different times and cultures acceptance is admitted to...and I don't like to lie about it...all I really see that can be done is to give info on preg and diseases so the person is aware of the risks....and then let them live with 'em. For sure, if she is willing and able to discuss her life goals and such, more info for thought can be aimed right at her....harder to go to college with a few kids in most countries.

Her society might not look badly on a teen preg as much as ours does and even within USA/Canada there are subsets where preg is acceptable to families.

Oh and Sue... 3x a day doesn't take the whole day unless you want it to! And I don't see where orgasm was a requirement either...even then, how many guys take that long? 3 or more in one hour is certainly doable. Maybe cable tv or the net was down for her that month.
