This will allow NLOS (non-line of sight) shots. Send out a small drone. It spots the enemy mortar team on the backside of a hill that has been shelling you. The drone designates the mortar position with its LASER designator. The .50 heavy machine gun on top of your Hummer fires a burst of guided rounds just over the top of the hill. When they clear the crest of the hill, they see the LASER designator spot and start homing maneuvers. The mortar position is hosed with HMG fire from a gun that cannot see it, and that they cannot see.
