Meteorologists warn of tornadoes, hail for Great Plains on Saturday

Last time the National Weather Service put out this strong a warning was back in March - theday of the bad tornado outbreak.
Have a plan people & stay safe.

Last night it got very blustery here and this morning the air is thick with humidity. The wind is now coming out of the southeast and gives you the feeling that front is pulling in moisture and backbuilding. We're not suppose to get it till tomorrow. The forecasters have been warning about its possibilities for a week! Max and I were walking in the garden this morning and looking at how nice everything is coming along...and how much damage the incoming storms could do. We're keeping an eye on it and doing what we can to prepare. Stay safe everyone.

Looks like we've lucked out here. Heavy storms went west, south and north of us. We just got lots of rain and no hail or severe weather. Whew! There's still a lot of piss and vinegar in this one so keep a weather eye on the sky!

Jason's mom called tonight to yell at him for not calling to find out if they were okay. (He was in touch with his brother and father and we were watching the tornado reports.) She said they had "120 tornadoes" and she wants to have a storm shelter installed. (I dunno about 120 but one came within 1/2 mile of where Jason's brother was working.) Jason suggested she move to Florida because all we get are hurricanes - and she very matter of factly said "No. Too many criminals in Florida."

We have some trees down here in town. South of us there was a tornado that hit a hospital and community college.

Tornado tourists? As badly as I'd love to see a tornado - from a disatance & doing nothing more harmful than churning up an empty field - there's no way I'd try to chase a strom down. I know NOTHING about how to spot the dangers & would end up getting myself killed.
