Talking Canada Wins the Giro!!!

Ryder was the man today - rode his ass off & just couldn't be touched by anyone else in the top ten.

First Grand Tour win for Canada - e-var!

Now, get him home, fattened up, massaged & rested for the Tour. Think he'll be the Number One for Garmin in the Tour this year - LOL.

Congrats!

His name always throws me of so i forget he's Canadian.

BTW: It's not a good combo if you're serious about winning the Tour, Contador couldn't do it either but he is at a next level. Hesjedal has just joined the club of the big boys.

I know - they're just too close together & both races are understandably draining. I'm listening to an interview with Hesjedal now & he's admitting he hasn't even put a plan together for 'Tour training'. Don't know if he's trying for an Olympic berth or if he's aiming more for the Vuelta in August.

He's going to be 32 next year - think that should be his year to focus on the Tour, rather than the Giro.

I only hope this spurs on a ton of young kids to give it a shot.

At the basis it's a pretty good sport (put in the miles, keep riding even though it rains & there's a headwind etc). For the pro's it's bordering on insanity but that's top sport for ya.

By now he should know whether to go for the tour or the Olympic road coarse. IIRC Belgians Tom Boonen will skip the tour to try to win an olympic medal.

Oh well, enjoy this one first Ryder.
