Container appartments .
Be a gentleman , when you move a mistress in to your house
generously provide a classy container home for your wife .
In China rental would apparently cost you ( or her ) 8 yuan per day .
That is roughly 1.25 USD$ per day .

Better than sleeping under the bridge.
These are for the Chinese "ant tribe". Rural workers who come to big cities for work but don't have the residency permits to rent or buy homes.
They live in some very dreary circumstances. Four people to a small room to secure their stuff would be welcome.
This article says they pay about US$81/month. US$37.50/month and closer in, would be welcome.

Spartan and unpleasant as those container 'dorms' look to Western eyes, they're almost luxury condos compared to the 'cage apartments' that some Chinese live in.
This story is a few years old, but I would imagine still valid.
