Dunno, him being dead kind of takes the edges of it.
Don't remember much of Misery except that part where she chopped his leg off, none of that here.
Living of his social security checks might have played a part too. She'll get into some trouble over that.

She didn't chop his leg off. She broke them both with that wood splitting maul so he wouldn't go wandering off.

I think the saddest part of this story is that his kids didn't make contact with him in all that time and who knows how long before that.
