Two million users have downloaded the app worldwide, and Grindr founder Joel Simkhai estimates that 500,000 people use it daily — some for casual encounters, others looking to chat, a few searching for Mr. Right. It’s a GPS-based program, which allows users to not only find men through the app, but find the ones closest to their current location.
Down in Puerto Rico, Senator Roberto Arango has been doing just that. The only problem? He’s yet another in a long line of political closet cases:
The vice-chairman of George W. Bush’s 2004 campaign in Puerto Rico voted in favor of Resolution 99, which would have amended Puerto Rico’s constitution to ban the recognition of same-sex marriages. That resolution didn’t pass, despite his vote. He’s also been opposed to bills that would ensure for civil unions, and he’s even made gay slurs to make fun of his opponents.
