Knew women didn't wear 'under pants' till rather recently (even bloomers, were at first considered racy)..... I was surprised to read the string bikini-like undies were worn by a man.

At least those early bras didn't have underwires

Interesting, BG. Thanks! And I got a naughty giggle out of the section on ancient Rome, because they don't tell you the whole story, or show you the entire fresco from Pompeii. Probably because it's a picture of a prostitute servicing a client; Roman law required prostitutes to wear the bra-like garment for modesty's sake. Didn't require any other woman to wear them, just hookers.
