Sears has 'substantial doubt' that it can survive

http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/22/news...ure/index.html

Quote:
After years of huge losses and store closings, the future is officially in doubt for Sears and Kmart.

Sears Holdings (SHLD), the holding company for the two iconic retail brands, warned investors late Tuesday that it can't promise it will stay in business.

It included the language in its annual report while insisting it might still turn things around.

"Our historical operating results indicate substantial doubt exists related to the company's ability to continue as a going concern," said the statement.
The rest at CNN.

If you're holding a Sears/KMart gift card, store credit, whatever I'd be using it soon.

I never understood the Sears/Kmart merger. One failing business is supposed to prop up a struggling business HOW?

I hope The Hudson's Bay Co. picks up Sears in Canada. We have Sears and Walmart in our city. That's it for "department" stores. Walmart ran out or killed the smaller ones like Zellers, Woolco, and a few local independents (which were great).

I've always bought all of my appliances from Sears, too.

Yes, even though Sears has been steadily fading out of my buying habits for years I still bought my appliances there.
