You almost hope it's not real.
Maths is maths.
I always wondered why they never included real practical stuff like how to calculate how much more it costs when you buy stuff paying small bits for a long time instead of saving up. Of course that is for slightly older kids but it's hopeless when the prior training consists of the coloring of maths.
It's black & white. If you want shades go into statistics.
Food & weather? Now that's nonsense.
There's something about tables of multiplication & proportions that many people miss. They don't spot errors that are a magnitude of 10 or more out of the scale.
Very unhelpful in all kinds of jobs.
