Clinical Terms

CFR Case Fatality Rate. This refers the rate of death among people who already have a condition. It is usually measured as a decimal or as a percent. For example, if one out of every five people with a condition died, the case fatality would be 0.2, or 20%.
HPAI High Pathogenic Avian Influenza
LPAI Low Pathogenic Avian Influenza. The difference between LPAI and HPAI is the severity of disease/death it causes.
NPI Non Pharmaceutical Intervention (i.e. social distancing; isolation)
R0 Reproductive number. The reproduction or transmissibility rate refers to the average number of cases infected by the primary case. For Example, a RO rate of 1.0 or less would indicate transmission is not high enough to sustain pandemic.

This was a thread which tracked the number of cases of influenza per country during the 2009 pandemic. I unstuck the thread because it's history now but it might be interesting material for comparison when we have another pandemic:

Had my flu shot yesterday. Did feel tired and a bit hot and feverish. Never have had a reaction, and don't know that this was a mild reaction or not.

That was an interesting time. We are able to get a look at how the next one will unfold on a global scale with respect to detection/timing/etc.
