Default "Car Talk" says goodbye

"NPR's 'Car Talk' duo will put on the brakes after 25 years"
"After 25 years on the air, NPR's chatty Car Talk duo is finally putting on the brakes.

NPR says Tom Magliozzi, 74, and his brother, Ray, 63, announced today that they will stop making new episodes of Car Talk at the end of September, NPR's blog Two-Way reports."
"I think the most un-American thing you can say is, 'You can't say that.'” Garrison Keillor

Sorry to hear that. Those two have entertained the hell out of me over the years.

Ok, I admit, they were fun and they brought in a lot of listeners to public radio.

But any regular listener has to admit over the last 5 years they have lost some of their revalence. It was clear they left the shop over the last 5-10 years.

Very little discussion about modern automobiles and more slapstick humor. I also suspected the callers were screened to assure no questions on cars less than 5 or so years old were asked.

They were fun to listen to for the first 12 or so times, but they're constant cackling got downright grating after that.

The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners.
