Default Old fashioned door bell

We are looking for an hand turned old fashioned non electric, no batteries, door bell that mounts through the wall, not the door itself.

Anyone have any idea where I can find something like this? It need not be fancy at all. This house is 80 to 100 years old and it's not fancy so we want something rather plain, in keeping with the look of the house.

This is similar to one we installed in our place in CA and we found a similar version without the carving, for our 120 year old place up in MN.

Granted in CA we got the manual door bell from a person in the community who had salvaged for decades, from the vintage structures being torn down.

In MN we found a good antique salvage business in the Twin Cities.

Hold the presses!! Once again, Amazon is our friend!!!

We have a 110 year old one on the house we bought this year. Something inside is broken, or came loose, because the little turn piece just spins.

I have a dragonfly knocker, if you'd like that. Totally non-electronic!

Oops, can't find it! Will look, though, in case you want it.

There's a Ladybug knocker on the canning kitchen door and somewhere I have a woodpecker knocker like this: http://www.sturbridgeyankee.com/wood...r-knocker.html still waiting to be put up.

Memories. Standing with my cousin and the two of us just tall enough to reach the door bell on the door at Grandfather and Grandmother's house. We were giving it a turn this way then that way. Only enough times to feel wicked. But obviously we weren't as no one said anything to us about it. It had a muted sound as someone painted the bell when they were painting the front door.

Thanks for all the ideas and links, folks. I still can't find anything near what is needed tho. Maybe one of you has an idea about how to make the needed modification???

Looks like all the bells are made to go through the front door and not the wall by the door, which is what we need as we just finished putting in two lovely, strong and sturdy storm doors. With the regular doors open, those storm doors really light up the world inside. The 7 cats quickly laid claim to all that sunny, warm floor space to twist and toast in.

Almost all the door bells I checked are made to install in a door that's 2 1/4" thick. It won't work on the storm door. Thickness is all right, but the door is made of metal and glass and with the front door closed, the sound will be trapped between the two doors.

So, we need one that will install through the wall beside the doors - 9 1/4" thick. (Remember all that great blue board foam insulation we put on this house when we upgraded it a few years back?) It's sure nice, does a super wonderful job of insulating the house summer and winter, but it also makes the walls ~thick~!

I suppose I'm going to have to contact a manufacturer and ask about an extension kit or some way to extend the one they sell. If you are interested in staying updated let me know and I'll post what I find out here.

Again, thanks to all who helped dig out info for me.

I don't know if you thought about alternatives but perhaps one of those hanging bells like a ship's bell? (movies ship's bell) Those old door bells if you recall are not very loud. I wonder if a person could hear it over a TV?
Good luck with it Spinner. I'd like to read your adventure when I am able.
Oh another thought. You could adopt a Chihuahua pup. They notify you immediately when a person is at the door. No installation needed. Raised by cats they can be very nice people.
