Default My Aunt

My aunt passed away this wekend. she was 89, and in a nursing facility. Her family says she came down with "really bad bronchitis". I'm laying even money that it was the flu. I know the nursing homes in m area are really struggling with it right now.

On a side note, my whole family is sick with something right now. DS has had it for a week, upper respiratory, sore throat, headaches. He's now been nice enough to pass it along. I really don't think its the flu for us, DS did not miss any school, just miserable for a few days.

I'm sorry about your aunt, Exodia. It's a shame to live to be that old and then have something as common and preventable as the flu take you out.

Hope you all feel better soon.

So sorry about your Aunt.

Any bug that gets into a Nursing Home becomes a small scale epidemic.

I'm sorry for your loss Exodia.

This flu is pretty hard on the lungs. I'm 52 and have never experienced this kind of congestion before.

So sorry to hear about your aunt. The assisted living where my folks are living is really on the ball about flu. One case (or even a visitor who came down with it shortly after visiting) and they cancel all activities and deliver meals to the rooms.

I am sorry for your loss Exodia. No matter a person's age we miss the space that they leave when they are gone.

We are having flu deaths in our elderly here too, and it sure did try to off me.

The viewing and mass were at the chapel of the nursing home where she was living. Residents were not allowed to attend, and we were told that the resident areas are basically on lock-down becase of the flu.
