Default Why The Eye?

Hat Tip to AB as he got it before I did. I challenge my mysterious friend. Why the eye?

Sorry Oric, It was a NYT article. Apparently, the virus has been found in the eye, long after recuperation - therefore transplants are out.

Read the NYT article (googled it, came right up) pretty frightening stuff... viral eye infections are not uncommon, but seeing Ebola attack along that vector still strikes a nerve.

But why the eye?

Perhaps the eye is a way to let the immune system "see" a little of the virus? (I'm reaching)

He is cured after another course of treatment, though they don't know if it was the meds or his own immune system that finished off the Ebola in his eye. His eyesight is better and his eye has returned to blue from bright green.
