I am going to try that! I'll hunt up some Dogbane (Indian Hemp) or Milkweed for the fiber...

I've made incredibly strong rope from fine Dogbane fibers, so I think it should stand up well to a vigorous rolling.

In some of the other videos that show this method, they use cotton and ashes. The simpler, the better, and ~waay~ easier than trying a fire drill.

Don't wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it and you get muddy.

Just lay your eyeglasses on top of some dry grass. Wait one minute.

But do glasses have the right curvature? I know you can do it with a magnifying glass, but both faces of that are convex. My glasses are flat on the front and concave on the back.

I don't know if all eyeglasses have the right curvature but I can tell you from experience mine do. I've left them sitting on the grass and the resulting embers melted the frames.

Here in the seldom sunny PNW, good to have methods that work on cloudy days...

I thought to myself, "Self, they are serving 'spicy' sushi at TBM?"
