Default Where will you go when pandemonium strikes?

Super-rich are buying up underground bunkers and installing panic rooms in luxury apartments to protect against revolutions or natural disasters
Quote:
Luxurious underground 'doomsday' bunkers are selling out
Experts say numbers of people installing 'safe rooms' are increasing
Chambers form whole underground communities in Germany and the US
Each room is supplied with food and water to last for one year if necessary
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...disasters.html

Each two level 'chamber' can be tailored to the owner's design -
perhaps to match your bespoke yacht?

The 'survival complex' boasts a swimming pool, cinema, meeting
rooms as well as by laws and armed guards

Bedrock: The largest facility is in Germany, but a second bunker
is also selling out in Indiana, US

Danger: The world's wealthiest are reportedly worried by civil
unrest, revolution and crime more than natural disaster

Community: To avoid a Lord of the Flies scenario, the designers
have also implemented a handbook that outlines by laws for the
bunkered community

Safe room: The facility is described as more like a 'hotel', and
is the extreme option while others have reinforced closets or
bathrooms in their homes as a place to hide out should disaster
strike

Casting call for the next Bond villain...

Makes the Congressional bunker at Greensprings look positively Spartan!

Wonder if they've ever heard this little gem?

Ha! Given that I'm moving to a house on a lake in the bush, one road in and out, I'll just go home when TSHTF.

We will ride it out right here at home. Can't get much more out in the sticks than we already are anyway. Besides we don't have anywhere else to go and even if we did, I doubt anyone our age would be welcome and the skills we have that are fairly rare these days won't matter much to anyone else during a real crisis.

I`ll go up to the ranch.

I pray that my car is still working. It`s only 6 miles away, but the last mile is up a steep hill. Me, and the dogs can do it with frequent stops, but as I`d be carrying 3 cats...ugh...

Guess I`d best check the tires on the 3 abandoned bikes here. Pushing a bike, or riding one would sure be easier .Hmmmm. Maybe I could use a trailer for one of them.

AZ carry the cats on your back. This company is awesome. They are expensive but their products are made very well. http://www.celltei.com/products/trav...or-3-cats.html

If it's a quiet event one can ride out at home with a bag of rice and a water purifier, I'm fine. If it's violent and or long, I'm hosed. There comes a time for those who have no family when you can't throw a pack on your back and head for the hills hobbling on your cane. If SHTF badly, my time is up, that's all.

But it's fun to look at pics of how the .01% prepare.

I feel you LizB. My closest family is 70 miles away and because of visual impairment I can no longer drive or see in the dark.

My wife's ancestral village lies just on the border between India and Bangladesh, near the Garo Hills. There is no electricity except for the solar panel we installed for light and fan, but it is self-sufficient in water, rice, fish, poultry and meat. They do not have sufficient vegetables because the soil is more suitable for rice.

The whole area belongs to the same indigenous ethnicity who have the reputation of being fierce fighters (I should have known that before i married my wife!)

Their traditional weapon is the ramdao:

I have long thought in the event of a major crisis like the power grid goes out, the third world will barely notice while the first world breaks into riots and starvation, while the multi-millions dependent on drugs to stay alive, don't.

Urban areas, whether in the developed or developing world would quickly collapse into anarchy if things hit the fan. There are many urban areas in developing countries that would fare just as poorly, if not worse, than their urban counterparts in the developed world.

It'd be more accurate to say that those in rural areas, and who have some degree of self-sufficiency, would be more likely to survive.
