Default Skunk vs Febreze

On one side of our land, there is a very steep drop off and then heavy woods. We have seen various wild critters especially this time of the year when wildlings are stuffing themselves to put on a thick layer of fat to see them through the winter. Last week, we had the front door open with the storm door letting in delightful cool breezes. Suddenly a very strong odor of skunk came inside. In seconds we were gasping for clean air. DH slammed the door then looked at me, clearly asking for an opinion on what to do about the odor. I don't know what upset the skunk, but what ever it was got the full force of the animal's ire. No doubt at all about that. All I could think of was the can of Febreze. DH ran for the bathroom and came back out laying down a think spray. As fast as the stink began, it went away. I was amazed.

Febreeze should be used with caution if you have pets or breathing issues. It should never be used if you have a bird, even with the windows open but I'm not sure about cats or dogs.

Biz and Simple Green mixed with water in a spray bottle works well too

I found a product in my grocery store called "One Drop." It works on a lot of bad smells. I haven't had to try it for skunk. It has no odor which I really appreciate since I cannot abide the smell of Febreeze or any of the other 'perfumey' products.

DD1 was altering a bridesmaid's dress that had been made in China and apparently shared a compartment with rotting shrimp. Febreeze didn't even touch it. She used one of the enzyme-based pet stain cleaners on it and the stink went away.

The only bad thing I've tried Febreeze was teen boy and it worked pretty good on that.
