Always worth paying attention when we get what appears to be an efficient jump to mammals.

Sue posted a thread about a tv series based on a genetically engineered H7N2 virus released in the US.

they say this is the 2006-strain, but it was not seen in poultry
in the meantime, so where did it hide ?

someone also wrote "almost identical" or such, so there would
have been no evolution, no mutations ?

as with the occasional slow evolution in China,
or 2007 Bernard Matthews H5N1 ?

but it's unclear, some say "identical" to just mean the strain
and only HA (97%)

Flu vax doesn't contain H7s. There is an H1 & an H3 - more specifically, H1N1, H3N2 & one or 2 B strains, depending on if you got the trivalent or quadrivalent, (4 strain), vax.

human vax is for H3,H1,B

some chicken vax for H5 , no prepandemic vax for that H7 afaik,
maybe for Chinese H7N9, not sure

American avian HAs are different from Eurasian (except the new H5)

Do they "type" all (or most) flu deaths?

mostly the unusual ones, suspected atypical flus (non seasonal)

in most countries

then most or some of the hospitalized flu-deaths in USA,Europe

sometimes they type only HA or only HA and NA

most flu-caused-deaths (~30000 per year in USA)
are attributed to other causes and not typed (sequenced)
