Default Getting ready for the Holidays and Winter

Poncho, shawls, bootie slippers, scarves and beanie hats. And since the long range weather reports are forecasting a really cold winter for the northeast (and if so, one where I will generally stay cozy at home) I'm hoping I have enough yarn to keep me busy.

And the newest additions to the stash:

The plastic covered ones are lion brand 1lb. Hoping it's enough

I wish I had known you 20 years ago. I gave at least that much away, I think to Goodwill or the nursing home around the corner. Mom crocheted and knitted. I can't do either. I admire those of you that can and the ones that can sew. I do cross stitch and that's it.

I have to get going on the one project I need to do. I've made different samplers for each of the DGK's and since one was added this year I'll make one for him. Next year I'll work on making tied fleece blankets for Livi and Miah, they are the only ones without one.

But, feather, the cross stitch you do is lovely. As testifies the piece hanging on my bedroom wall right near the bed. I see it every day, and always smile when I do.

Thanks again for thinking of me and sending that.

HUGS!!!

And I can't cross stitch to save my life! Feather, I envy you that delicate and detailed work! I used to do petite point, but I don't see well anymore, so crochet and some knitting is all I can do. And with knitting I've given up anything unless it's a scarf or shawl. I just keep dropping stitches! With crochet I can't. Or if I miscount, it's easy to fix.

And yes Spinner... I have to begin projects now because I am the slowest yarn-crafter on earth! LOL

I've been very surprised by how often I'm asked to spin up some dog hair for a loving owner of long furred dogs. I think I've spun the fur from almost 20 dogs.

I have to card it with some wool because the dog fur doesn't have enough crimp in it to stay together after being spun. Just a bit of wool goes a long way. And the owners are always delighted.

The only problem with this dog yarn is when it gets wet, it still smells like dog. But the fur does make lovely yarn.

My Pyrenees is beginning to shed his winter coat now. By the time he's finished I could have enough fur to knit an entire other dog. The local bird life loves him. I've found his fur incorporated into several nests.
