Unhappy My DD is in isolation in hospital.

My DD woke me at 4:00 am still feeling very sick. She had pain in her chest, severe sore throat and extremely nauseous. She actually laid down in the cool empty bathtub for relief.I took one look at her and put her in the car and took her to emerg. They triaged her right away and was put in a room very quickly.

Once she was assessed they took blood, xtrays and did an H1N1 swab. Those results are not back for 48 hours. They have since taken more blood and are now doing a throat swab. They put notices on her door for full protection gear when entering.

She's in an isolation room now, anyone going in is in full gown's, eye protection, masks and gloves.

She has all the SF symptoms but no fever. She feels like hell, they have an IV drip going are giving her gravol and tylenol until they know what they are dealing with. The doctor at the clinic said Saturday night that her lungs sounded bad, but the doctor today said they sounded "not too bad" now.

God, I am scared out of my witt's. I just got home after being there since 4 am. DH is with her right now.

I'm going back in a few hours after I shower and eat and take a break. I will be there for the night.

I pray it's not Swine Flu.

AG, your daughter and your family are in my thoughts. Don't be frightened. You did the right thing and DD will get the care she needs to recover quickly.

Thank you. I am a little freaked out. Her chest hurts and she is coughing, but not a lot.

They are worried or they wouldn't keep her and she looks like hell, poor thing.

It's a little freaky when they come in to see us with all their protective clothing on.

My DD is 15. She is a very fit and strong, athletic, young woman. She fights things all the way.

If she admits to not feeling well, I know she's sick. She's one I have always had to watch. She never gets "a little sick" when she gets sick, it's always in a big way.

They are amazing at the hospital and I have to say they went right into overdrive when they suspected influenza or H1N1. The masks, gowns, warning posters went up in a flash.

I am so tired, I'm going to hit the shower, throw on some comfy clothes, feed my DS some dinner and get ready to head back.

Thanks for all your kind words.

I'll post when I know more.

As you say shes healthy and fit...Regarding the sickness thing, my DD is like that..if theres a bug she will get it worse than anyone else in the family, whereas my son is never sick...Odd how children can be so different!

Dont forget to get something to eat yourself!

Oh hon... she IS in the right place & they'll be watching closely. Here's hoping the cultures & blood tests come back quickly with some answers. And of course you're freaked. When they admit into isolation - that's a natural feeling - it's just too bizarre when everyone is coming in fully PPE'd... rather depersonalizing.

Don't forget to look after yourself while this is ongoing. Bring a pillow or something for yourself in the isolation room & snooze while you can. The important thing is to be awake when they're there examining & treating her.

Ask ANYTHING you feel you need to - don't stop until you get answers, even if those consist of: "I don't know yet." This is Momma Tiger time.

Amberglass, all my positive thoughts going your way. I know your scared and jumpy, but she'll be ok. Lungs are already better than Saturday, right? And if it IS H1N1, just think...no more worrying about her with it, and I'd bet you wouldn't worry as much about it once someone in the family had it and came through just fine. Except for being sick.

Sending hugs and healing thoughts from California too. As a mom who has had to sit with my son during his hospitalizations I feel so sorry that you have to go thru this. May she be much, much better soon!

Didn't you recently make and freeze some wonderful healing broth? (You inspired me to do the same thing). Hopefully she'll be home soon and you'll be feeding it to her.

My thoughts and prayers for your daughter, you and your family as well Amberglass.

I have a 15 year old healthy and athletic daughter also. She and her two younger siblings are going to get a chat tonight about the new school year bed times and the requirement for a good nights sleep. I'll dive a little deeper into how the Swine Flu is unfolding so they'll understand the gravity of the topic.
