My son seems to be on the mend, although the strep culture they did just came back positive, so they called in some antibiotics for that. It's not the first I'm hearing of a strep secondary infection.

My wife is still struggling, although she made some improvement yesterday. Still only feels human during the first few hours of meds (fever/cough/congestion meds). She watches the clock to get to her next dose, and did not make it through the night without meds 1/2 way through last night.

I stayed home yesterday with them because I was quite worried about her. I spent a good deal of time wiping things down with Clorox wipes. I'm back at work today, hoping that she'll be ok until I get home.

My daughter and I are still fighting the good fight and winning as far as I can tell. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

Ex, I have my fingers crossed for you too. It's a tough fight but it looks like you've gotten through it pretty well.

Hang in there Ex. You were Johnny On The Spot with early proactive steps and good follow through. It is wonderful how this forum helps us prepare.

Fighting the flu in the family is tough. My prayers are with you for a rapid recovery for all.

Ex, I'm really hoping you and your daughter will stay well! What a great DH you are, wiping down everything and taking care of everyone, I'm impressed and just read that to my DH hoping something will rub off on him!

She's got something coming on tonight. Sore throat, aches, low fever, all-around feeling lousy. We'll see what tomorrow brings

Her overall condition is about the same tonight, not great, but nowhere nearly as bad as the other two were at the same time in the progression. I'm chalking that up to the elderberry prevent we were on (thinking it kept viral load and reproduction down). I'm giving her ibuprofren and cough/cold meds to help her get some restful sleep tonight.

My wife is do much better; it took her a few more days than my son, but kids tend to bounce back quicker from things in general. She finished up her Tami today.

I'm glad I was prepped for meds, because with two people sick, we really went through a lot of the over-the-counter stuff. It was good not to have to run out to get more in the middle of things.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Unhappy Now it's Ex's turn...

All,
Just heard that Ex got his turn today. He's the only one I know personally who did "all the right things" [elderberry, washing, etc]. I'm sure he'll keep everyone updated on this forum, but I'll post things as I find out as well.

Pray for Ex, he's one of the good guys!

Once it is in your home it's almost inescapable. Poor Ex. I hope his wife is sufficiently recovered to take care of him and their daughter now.

Oh no, this is awful news

I hope the elderberry does the trick and it is a mild, short lived illness for him.

Also hoping the rest of his family is well on the mend....

Default Damn!

I was hoping he'd be spared. Yes, he certainly did everything right. I've no doubt worrying about his loved ones didn't help - that & broken sleep.

Thanks for the wishes everyone. We don't have it as bad as my wife and son, but it's still no fun.

I'm crediting the elderberry for keeping it milder for us. I'll try to check in tomorrow.

Just keep taking that elderberry, Ex. That'll keep it mild and brief.

We are hanging in there, although DD now has a UTI (that I'm sure she would love to know I was discussing on the internet). All hail the secondary infections...

Sorry kak, I'll try to be more descriptive just for you...

I'm doing much better today. I'm the only one in the house who never developed a bad cough. Not sure why. The headache and muscle aches (mostly upper body..??) are still there, but the fever is down a good bit. I'm trying today with no meds.
