Default Swine flu in the house

glad I got vax-ed. And 2 of the kids too.

Kid's daddy just got back from Vietnam last night. He got sick before he left, chest hurt, bad cough, sore throat, vomiting for one day. Was sick for 2 or 3 days, started to feel better for a day or two then....WHAM.

Sounds like a few of the stories I've read here.

He wandered downstairs just now for the first time today, I handed him a mug of my medicinal chicken soup and told him to go back to bed.

(Hope he didn't take any jaunts through a wet market in the last week or two)

Hey! I can just keep this thread going for this flu season too.

Young son (16) asked to stay home today with a sore throat.

I just got back from the store and he tells me he aches all over and is
exhausted. I felt his face, he's running a fever too, maybe 100.

I'm going to go get the thermometer from the family house and stop
by Walgreens and get some Airborne to mix with my EmergenC.

Glad I got my flu shot on the 15th.

drum - you may escape this by the skin of your teeth. You won't yet have full immunities but pretty close.

You know the drill - duct tape them to the bed, lots of fluids, symptomatic relief & Tincture of Time...

I just gave him 2 Aleve and a big shot of Sambucol. He was going to make dinner, but can't now. However, he says if I make it, he will eat it.

He must not be too sick. Yet.

Correct - if he can still eat, he's doing just fine.

A TON of people around here cuaght it but didn't get that sick. What made it remarkable was two things - it took forever to get energy back & many of them to this day, a year later; feel as though their immune systems haven't recovered. They catch every sniffle making the rounds.

I heard son coughing a little last night. He's still asleep and he went to bed a bit over 12 hours ago.

He wasn't congested at all yesterday, which was leading me to believe this was a flu rather than a cold. That and the body aches and exhaustion.

Whatever it is, it doesn't seems to be horrible bad, like some of the flus I've had.

Maybe not fine

He has an occasional cough, doesn't sound too deep or liquidy, but he says it hurts when he coughs, front and back.

My DD has picked up everything since having H1N1 twice last year.

Last night she went to bed at 4pm.....sore throat, headache and body aches. She says her chest is hurting as well.Right now, she's sitting on the floor wrapping Xmas presents in my room, still feeling crappy.Im giving her meds as well as Cold FX, vitamins etc. I have to get some more sambucol.

She has a physical on Thursday, I will be getting her a flu shot{ if she's well enough} and speaking to the DR while we're there. I cant even imagine her picking that up again....I didn't think she'd get it twice this first round...

Drum, I hope your son feels better soon.

He felt better pretty quickly, probably not flu.

How about your daughter?

There was an article in our paper a few days ago, flu has hit this area, clinics are starting to report it.

I got my flu shot, but have neglected to get the 2 kids remaining at home theirs. Maybe there's still time. DD has an appointment Monday, I'll tell her to ask for one.

Glad to hear he's feeling better drum.

My DD still isn't back to her old self. The Dr wants her back as soon as she's feeling better for a flu shot. She ordered blood work, so we'll see what shows up. She's up and around but still very pale.

I am worried sick that she's going to pick up another nasty bug. There seems to be a lot going around. She was on cash all day at work today. If I had known she was being put on cash, I would have had her call in sick. Handling all that money and credit cards, breathing the same air with so many people is a recipe for disaster right now. We were going to go to midnight mass tonight, but I've changed my mind.....I don't want her in a packed church.

I had (I think) flu. Started feeling a bit ach a week ago, earlier in the week we had a student with the snivels, couldn’t get up Saturday morning, managed to drag myself down stairs kick the dog out make a mug of Bovril and go back to bed. Basically like this till Wednesday when I managed to get up and stay up.

Figure it wasn’t just a cold as I usually get over those in about 48 hours and it wasn’t “man flu” as I’m still alive.

The strange thing is that I haven’t developed a cough, but I was sneezing so badly that I have muscle aches all over, Pulse the normal joint aches and wild temperature changes. However, on the upside as I was living on Bovril for 4 days I have lost nearly ½ a stone in weight.

Definitely Type A flu of some kind in the house.

Son has 102.6 fever, headache, body aches, chills, nausea (vomited once), sore throat.

Came home early from school yesterday and has been mostly asleep since then.

Hope my flu shot works!

I have something, and it is not The Crud that I get every year around this time. Fingers crossed it is just a cold.

Hopefully it is just a cold.

The kids fever broke while I was at work and he sweated through his bedding.

He felt ok for getting in the shower so I changed his sheets and pillow cases real quick for him.

His fever's down to 100.6 now. Seems to be feeling a little better. Asked for tea and honey.
