Still feeling pretty much the same. I sat up for about an hour this morning and it really drained me. I managed to eat a bagel though. :-)

I may phone the Chinese restaurant we use all the time and have them send over some Won Ton soup. Theirs is pretty good.

Well, today I managed to clean the cat boxes for the first time without dropping dead due to lack of O² half way through. I got the flu at Christmas. It's a long haul back to health, and I'm not there yet. Don't expect miracles.

I had to go down to the pantry to grab a few boxes of Kleenex....I was dizzy before I hit the bottom of the stairs. I was a mess when I got back upstairs, had to lay right back down...

This sucks!

THAT is exactly what I meant. Wait until you have to change a toilet paper roll. Think I'm kidding? There's the bending & reaching to grab a new one... dizzy spell. Co-ordinating pulling out that spring loaded center bar & fumbling to put it back on with a fresh roll you'll swear weighs 10 pounds. Then freeing that annoyingly glued first sheet. You'll need a nap just from doing that.

It's no wonder to me entire households died during the Spanish Flu of flu directly & secondary issues... including cold & starvation. Imagine no one having any energy to feed the stove, heat water, feed & change a sick baby...

Don't wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it and you get muddy.

Dizziness was my biggest problem. For a few days last week I was so dizzy when I stood up, I couldn't get anything done. I was holding on to chairs and walls as I made my way around the house - and this is weeks after I first got sick.

I run out of O² constantly with my heart pounding like I have just run a race, and I'm still coughing up gunk.

Sorry everyone's been so sick. We're still carryin' our Tamiflu just in case and washing hands desperately. The patients ask why they have to wear masks, and I say,"'Cause we don't want it!"

One of my coworkers came to work today feeling OK, was not so hot by lunchtime, and at 1:30 crawled out the door on her way home. As soon as she left I took the canister of lysol wipes and scrubbed everything that I could think of her POSSIBLY touching today. Including the part on the copiers that you lift to get to the glass, staplers, the time clock. The office reeked of lysol, but nobody minded. Then I ate my vitamin C in peel-able form and the lobby smelled like orange.

Mine was 6 steps from the bathroom to the bedroom. I felt fine leaving the bathroom. What still amazes me is just how difficult it was to think once I physically got past the worst of the fever and shakes. It is very frightening driving down the road and struggling to remember where you live and how to get home.

Lv, that's one aspect of flu, especially flu recovery I wish we knew more about. I remember that with my bouts of flu. Even when I honestly believed I was finally on the mend physically, I felt like I was in a constant brain fog. I remember one epic evening trying to write a cheque. A simple cheque to pay something mundane that I paid monthly. How many ways can you mess up filling out a cheque? I found them all that night including combinations of mistakes I didn't know were possible. I blew through half a cheque book & ended up in tears.

When you feel like that avatar even before having the flu, Mouse, you're ripe for infection.

This is good. Every time you go potty you get rid of some of those nasty flu particles. Just keep eating when you can lots of fluids of your choice. Keep the son actively nursing his Mum. He sounds good at it and I am sure it makes him feel better that he is able to help you out. Your DH is just going to have to get drinking more fluids and eating Won Ton Soup as well. Unless he wants steak. You never know when a man wants steak.

Do miss the community center and extras that were geared to a different client base. An occasional malcontent and depressive, but nothing like I saw yesterday. Very upscale in comparison. Different economy, and obvious homeless people on streetcorners with signs.

Can't say I'm too happy with mental cases (extreme) glaring and acting out at the senior center here. They seem to be housed there and it is their base. They have their rights of course. But I want a pleasant life in my old age, or at least as pleasant as I can obtain on a very limited income. Looking forward to spring which comes early here. Sorry I didn't get an apartment overlooking the garden court. Will be eating my lunches out there come spring. And also on the marina, and in the parks. I did not enjoy lunch at the community center at all. I don't want to eat in a looney bin atmosphere, so I'll limit my time there.

Means I'll be limiting my time there to avoid unpleasant interactions.. Probably will get used to it. But when NYC was innundated with mental cases and the homeless used the bus and train station I did stop going into NYC. It was cleaned up some and I never did go in as often afterwards.

Different economy here. Also do miss the beauty of driving in an upscale rural area.that was kept up and groomed. That takes a load of money and obviously the tax base here is very different. It takes money to run facilities like the ones I got used to. I appreciated it at the time. I'll have to use what is here and feel my way around

Yes Sarrah, sleeping a lot. I'm feeling somewhat better today. I just got an email from my cousin up in North Bay... He was talking to a lady a few days ago and she told that 15 members of her family have the flu!

Weird - we seem to basically have skipped the 'sick' part in this house. But we just can't get enough sleep. It's as if there's a steath energy vacuum hovering overhead happily sucking up every bit of energy in the vicinity.

I'm on the mend, I guess....I actually made it out to the grocery store yesterday. I didn't feel too bad, weak but not sick. Today, I feel terrible again. It's like you're better one day, then feeling bad again the next.

Today, I'm in bed again. I'm coughing a lot, a lot of crap coming out of my lungs. All I want to do is sleep...

I'm really tired of this. I'm in a bad mood.

Oh yeah....I lost 7 pounds last week.

Weight loss good... if you wanted to lose weight but 7 pounds in a week - wow. Told yas flu drains nergy Crap coming out of lungs - also good. But that's a lot of work & partly explains the exhaustion. That IS pretty normal, feeling okay one day & then lousy the next. It WILL pass... & soon.
